Almost Done

I’ve been working away at my grandma’s Traveling Woman shawl for a bit now… mind you, I got a TON of it done last weekend at the cottage :) I’m just finishing up my last repeat of the lace before I start the edging. So far this is the biggest shawl I’ve made. To be honest, I’m not even sure I have enough blocking pads for it! eek. We’ll have to see. It looks like I’m going to end up with almost a whole skein of the Malabrigo in Arbol. I’m thinking some socks… fancy ones :)

Here’s a pic of half of it… the other half is behind the chair :)

Grandma's Shawl

I went to my fave LYS The Purple Purl tonight and for the first time ever, a knitter asked me about a knitted item I was wearing! It felt pretty awesome. I was wearing my Hilde hat and they really really really liked it :) I immediately told them the pattern name and of course, tweeted Kristen to let her know :)

I went there to scope out some yarn for the Fiona All Grown Up top I’m making as part of the tweet-knit-a-long with a few other lovely laday’s… Here’s Kristen’s progress on hers. Pretty huh?

I initially went in looking for something like a cotton or cotton blend but ended up with some Abuelita Merino Lace in bright red. Yes I know… it’s gonna be warm, but I REALLY loved the color. The way I look at it is it will be drapey and most of the time in places with AC ;) I also got 50g’s of Louet Gems in linen grey for the highlight color.

So yes… I did quite some damage cause I got some turbo addi’s as well… BUT I think it was worth it.

And now… the pics :)

PS, those colors for your Fiona ALLGU are beautiful! So what if it’s Merino. Summer nights can get chilly. Hurry up and cast on, lady! I’m a lonely Fiona knittah! ;-)

That’s too funny about the Hilde hat! Thanks for the shameless plug! ;-)
