Birthday Party Weekend Extravaganza & Hilde Hat!
This weekend was something else! For the first time ever, I planned a surprise birthday party for my mom (her first ever) for Sunday, and on Saturday, it was Sue’s Bday (the one who got Ishbel).
I knew it was going to be a marathon weekend. Between saturday & sunday I had to clean the house thoroughly, bake 2 batches of mini egg shortbread cookies, make dinner for 11 and get my butt over to Sue’s to party.
It was nutty.
BUT… I did it! Sue’s party was a blast and I my mom was so beyond surprised that it made her tummy hurt! How cute is that?! This is my mom… after her tummy ache finaly gave way… this ladies & gents… is the woman that taught me to knit :)
At about 10:30 last night when I got home from dropping her off, I sat down… looked longingly at my Hilde hat… but knew that I was WAY too wiped to even thinking about picking them up.
Today though, I’m making up for it. Hilde is in hands, well, will be back in hands as soon as I finish this post ;)
I snapped some pics of it in progress. I kinda messed up with the M5′s. instead of M5 into the same stitch, I picked up the stitches which made this little “hole” inder the leaves. I know it not EXACTLY how Kristen probably envisioned her hat being made… but i dont mind it. I call them my air conditioning :) Oh and this pattern, is so beyond fun and I can’t wait to wear it, so… thank you Kristen!!!! You can get the pattern here.

Lady, you were a busy bee this weekend! But it all paid off because your mom looks so happy! Sounds like you threw her a lovely surprise party. :D
Your Hilde hat is turning out (dare I say?) Macro-licous!!! I’m loving the eggplant color you chose.
Fret not, those little holes under the leaves are supposed to be there. Depending on your tension, they shouldn’t be too gaping. ;-)
But I’m glad you’re having fun with it! I so can’t wait to see the photos when it’s done. Yippee!
