Happy Blogiversary To Me!!!

I totally missed my 1 year blogiversary last year. That may be because I was weeks from giving birth to my little one :)

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 2 years already! And, because I’m a nerd, I went and checked on my google analytics to see what happened on the blog these past two years. I was completely blown away with the numbers I got! Now I know that it may not be much to some, but to me, it means the world! It really means a lot to me that people like coming by to see what kind of sillyness I’m up to and what I’m knitting. So, to all of you that have come by and read a post or two….

THANK YOU!!!!!!

And because I can’t help but be a nerd… Here’s the numbers from my first two years with my blog:

I’ve had 4,343 Completely Unique visitors to the site
Those visitors visited 6,739 times
All those awesome visitors viewed 10,922 pages in total
My 3 most popular posts were:

44.49% of my visitors are from the USA
42.65% are from Canada
3.23% are from the UK

To me…. all those numbers are pretty damn awesome. I seriously couldn’t be happier!! I hope to keep improving on the blog and trying to add more fun content on a regular basis. I’m thinking a redesign is due too.

So to mark this super kick ass event for me… I’m having a teeny weeny little giveaway.

I’m giving away a kit to make this Rebecca Danger Monster Doll:

Happy New Year and Happy New Knittings!

Well… We all survived another year! It was a great year and I can’t wait to see what craziness this year brings.

I manage to get my Christmas knitting done. Mind you… I WAS weaving in ends in my brothers vest hours before they got here! I didn’t get any pics of them wearing what I made them and the pics of them opening their gifts aren’t the best. But I have some of my progress pics I wanted to post oh so badly before that I can finally  post :)

I made my sister the Sedum cardigan:

Blocking – this took almost 3 days to dry!!!

Vintage Pink Buttons :)

And my brother got the Subtle Stripe vest:

the hand dyeing made the vest kinda look like woodgrain!! lol

They seemed to have liked them. So all in all… Christmas was a success!!

After all that gift knitting I decided that I needed to just knit random things that need no deadline :) well… All except for one!! My moms bday is in march and I want to make her a traveling woman shawl like I had made my grandmother. I got some Tanis Fiber Arts sock yarn in the most pretty colorway – Pendragon Lol I’ve cast that on and hope to have it done by March 30th.

I’ve also been knitting Madison a little Monster. One of Rebecca Dangers monsters to be exact :) I’m almost done. I just need some arms for the baby monster then I can stuff and sew. Since this was drafted, all i have to do is stuff and sew ;)

Momma monster

Baby monster

Lastly… Im now in countdown mode for when I have to go back to work. It’s gonna suck. I can’t even lie about it. I know that I’m not the first to leave her little precious at home to go back to work… And I know I will adjust…. I just don’t want to. It’s hard to believe that in a few days, it will have been 10 months since she came into our lives. They really aren’t kidding when they say time flies. I’m going to make sure to enjoy every minute I have left with her during the day :)

Madison and her monkey hat that i wish i had knit ;)

And now really lastly…. I wish you all happy knitting/crafting for 2012!!

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Well, I think I might actually be able to finish my Xmas knitting for my lil bro and sis. That is…. If everything runs smoothly and I somehow find time to knit every day :) I think that I should be able to finish both at the least. Now, because I was felling all am cocky ambitious… I decided that I would get some lovely sock yarn to make a traveling woman shawl for my mom. I of course ended up at the Purple Purl and came home with these:

The colorway is Pendragon. How cool of a name is that? For the life of me I can’t remember the name of the folks that make it and I sure as hell don’t feel like getting up right now. I will correct this post tomorrow :) actually, you can probably see it in the pic ;) I’m hoping I can get it done… But if not, I’m not gonna sweat it.

The good part two. Yes… There’s a part two to this goodness. I’m so beyond excited about this!!! I signed up for a drop spindle spinning class at the purple purl!!!! Squeeeee!!!! I hope hat I get somewhat of a hang of it. The class is 4 hours long so here’s hoping I learn something!!! ;) it’s gonna be a whole new world for me and I can’t wait.

Now… The bad.

Well… It’s not THAT bad… I will be fine… But due to my new overactive thyroid… I’m now on beta blockers to slow down my heart rate (which was insane). They’re doing a wonderful job… But holy crap am I ever tired. Apparently my body will adjust, but right now… I feel like crap. It’s a struggle to stay up past 9. It is le suck. But what’s more le suck?? They’re gonna have to do this test where they stick a needle in my throat and inject stuff into my thyroid!! Let’s just say that if I could… I would go in completely wasted to that. This is so not gonna be fun. But… I have to do it :( so that’s the bad.

The ugly.

I’ve been making my sisters gift with Bernats Softee Chunky. Now I love that yarn… I live how squishy it is… But man is it ever a mess for me right now. I think the folks at bernat decided to change the way their yarn was made because half my balls are a complete different thickness than the he others. It’s very apparent when you have the two knit together. One looks sooooo nice and thick while the other is so… Bleh. I’ve to frog work more times than I like to admit and see if i have a ball of the thick stuff left. BUT it is coming along nicely. I wish I could post a pic but I know my sis lurks my blog and I’m too far along and the surprise would be ruined.

So there you have it. I’m still going bananas trying to finish my Xmas knitting. I tell you what though… Seeing all the Xmas stuff in stores is sure giving me a good kick in the butt :)

And last but oh so not least… We got the little monkey some Adidas :) the hubs and I LOVE Adidas and couldn’t help it. I know I’m very biased…. But I think she looks cute as hell :)

I Have A Dream…

All it took was one visit to a yarn store and BAM!!! I’ve been jolted out of my “oh wow is me… I don’t have time for anything anymore… I’m so overwhelmed… I’m soooo tired” rut I was in. Now, don’t get me wrong… I AM exhausted! My little monkey still won’t sleep more than 3 hours in a row at night :)

But exhaustion aside, i feel completely invigorated and can’t wait to get going on all these fun things I want to do. Right now I need to focus on finishing my Xmas gifts. But once those are done, I want to start thinking about patterns and designing and spinning (still need to learn) and crafting.

Let’s call it my official 5 year plan. I’m trying to be realistic here, but hopefully I can get all this going much sooner :) Oh and it wasn’t just the trip to the yarn store that inspired me ;) Here’s a pic of
my side of the shared “art/craft” room (I have another craft room that is mine all mine too …. Lucky me!)

Now… In this pic you will see my knitting machine, sewing bust an my covered sewing machine. You see the baby gate? You know what would look awesome there??? A spinning wheel!!!! How cool would that be???

Le sigh….

So before I ramble too much… Because I will do that…. I’m going to list my 5 year plan :)

- learn to spin yarn
- learn to dye yarn
- create/sell my own knitting patterns
- have my own etsy store
- become more involved in my local knitting communities

Too ambitious? Maybe… But I have to try :)

This Might Just Work

I’m thinking… That maybe… This might just work.

I got myself (finally) a new iPhone. I was making do with my 3G for a while now and it was time for a new toy. Now… The reason that blogging became cumbersome for me was because of the photography. I LOVE taking photos of yarn and my knotting and I would only settle for pics from my DSLR. BUT… The new iPhone has a kick ass camera and with the purchase of one little photo editing app… I may just be able to blog again. Now… I can REALLY blog from anywhere at anytime!!!

Yes!!!!!!!!

So…. Let the blogging resume. I may not post too often still…. But at least I feel better about having the time to post.

So that being said….

I pretty gave up on trying to finish my Xmas knitting. I was trying to make all my gifts this year :) However, I got my knitting mojo back and have pretty well been staying up far too late, trying to (in vain) finish my Xmas knits.

I’m working my sisters gift right now… And please… Next time I want to knit a garment in all seed stitch… Punch me!!! This could have gone way faster if it was all stockinette! Ughhh. Oh well… It will look beautiful when it’s done I’m sure :)
