How To Make A Mini Skein Keychain
I was inspired by a photo I saw on instagram of someone’s mini skein keychain. I knew right away that I had to make my own. This was so fun and so easy to make. I figured I would share how I made mine :)
Here’s what you will need:
- A few yards of your favorite yarn (I used my handspun from ontheround)
- one jump ring used for making jewelry (easy to find at craft/beading stores)
- one keychain thingamajig :) (also easy to find at craft/beading stores)
- it helps to have a set of pliers or jewelry making pliers to open the jump ring :)
First:
Wind a few yards of your yarn around your hand and elbow as when you are making a full sized skein. You don’t need much. I wrapped mine around 10-15 times.
Second:
Take your loose ends and tie them very securely together so your skein doesnt come apart. Then your skein into a hank – this is how you do that –> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ty9pZZu_V3o
Third:
Open your jump ring and place your skein in it and close it. You now have something to thread through the keychain thingamajig :)
Fourth:
Find your keys an proudly add your mini skein keychain to the collection!
Easy peasy! Let me know if you make your own mini skein keychain. I would love to see pics :)
Have a great weekend everyone!
