Making Up For Lost Time

Man, you sure as hell can’t take my knitting away from me now! I’ve been on such a roll. I’m back to knitting every night which is awesome. My only regret is that it took me this long to get back into it! I’m now 7 weeks away from my due date so I’ll have to get as much knitting in as I can cause I know in the beginning, knitting time will very rare. Everyone keeps saying… “telma, say goodbye to your knitting and any spare time you would have” now, I KNOW that my time will now be focused on our little one, BUT that doesn’t mean that ALL aspects of my life ends right? Right??? All you mom’s out there, are people over exaggerating a bit??

Regardless… back to the knitting. I’m still on the lookout for buttons for the 2 little cardigans I made for our little one. I looked through all my vintage buttons but nothing grabbed me. In the meantime though, I knit her this little blue hat:

I loved it so much that I’m gonna have to make one for some other friends of mine that are pregs now too :) It’s just to cute not to. The hubs has also been into making things for our little bean. He made this little pink elephant out of sculpy. It’s now sitting on her dresser awaiting her arrival. You can see more pics and some making of pics on my hubby’s site here.

I’ve also been on a sock kick as well as finishing up some UFO’s. I finished the pink cam socks that I started a LONG time ago for my mom and gave them to her today. She loved them!

Thanks to Kristen I’ve been on a sock kick. So much so that I even decided to use my “omg this yarn is so full of sunshine awesomeness” yarn to make a pair of socks. This skein was hand dyed by Jackie of JLYarnworks and let me tell you, it’s freaking delicious!!! I LOVE this yellow. It makes me feel like I’m knitting with sunshine itself. I decided to use a laec pattern from one of my “sensational knitted socks” books. At first I was a little meh about it but now i’m in LOVE. Here’s some pics :)

As soon as I’m done with these, I’m gonna use my beloved Malabrigo in Archangel (see bottom of this post for reference) to make some socks. I was keeping it for a shawlette, but I have this thing for socks now that I can’t control. Hopefully I can get started on those this week! yay!!!!

So thats me for now. I’m gonna try and keep updating my blog on a regular basis. I’ve been so gung ho about starting and finishing projects that I forget to take pics and post them here. I’ll have to change that! :)

And now, back to my yellow socks. Actually, speaking of which… I’m so gonna need some cool shoes for the spring to wear with them :)

    Love, love, love the fo’s!

LMAO Kristen really got you on a sock kick huh? I admit it, if I could knit socks she would have done the same to me. =D

For the first few weeks, it really is all about the baby. Not that, that is a bad thing of course. You’re either feeding, burping, changing, singing to, rocking, looking at or holding the baby. After about 8 weeks everything evens out and you’re used to one another. It’s a fun, frazzling, beautiful time in you and your little one’s life. You’ll be tired, but you’ll be fine. =D

Leann is right, the first few weeks are all about the baby – but it will go by so quickly it’s almost hard to believe. Then you get used to how things have changed and the baby gets a little less needing something all the time and you slowly pick up a bit more craft time.

If you don’t mind some advice, cast on some ridiculously simple project now (like some super basic socks, a garter stitch blanket, a washcloth, something like that) and then set it aside. Once the baby comes, you can see when you feel up to sneaking in a row or two between diaper changes & feedings & naps. Just make it something completely simple, that requires zero brain power.

  4. Fear not there will be plenty of time for knitting and other crafting adventures! There will be no time for cleaning tho….priorities right?
