Zephyr “Ms. Marigold” Hot Pink Tank & New Yarn!

Well, I finished it. My hot pink Ms. Marigold tank is now part of my wardrobe. I’m happy I finished it, and I’m happy with the outcome, but I’m not through the moon over it.

Let me explain…

I did a swatch to check to my gauge. It was perfect. Did my measurements and I’m a 34″ bust. Now from the pic, it looked really slim fitting so I decided to up size to a 36″. Thank goodness I did. I also added increases for the hips. Again VERY lucky I did that. While knitting it, I kept thinking that it looked small, but I decided to have faith in the pattern and keep going.

Once I finished the shell, I tried it on. Snug is definitely an understatement. I’m ok with how snug it is minus how tight it feels around the shoulders. Some more armpit room would have been nice too. Deodorant will kill this tank! lol Now all this may be because of the yarn I chose. I used Schaenmayr Nomotta Catania 100% cotton. It isn’t very stretchy so that may be why it’s so tight. Either way though. I can get it on, I can get if off with a bit of wiggling :)

Oh! Also, the pattern called for crocheted shoulder caps. Because my crochet skills are so le suck, I knit them. They’re a little “wingy” but I kinda like it.

Now, I don’t usually like to post too many photos of myself, but hubby snapped one that I love. I didn’t even know he was snapping them already. I guess those are always the best :)

I’ve been on vacation all week and all I could think about was going yarn shopping. I really do have a problem. I resisted the urge until today. I kept telling myself that I couldn’t get more yarn until I at least finished the tank. because all I had left was weaving in the ends and the sleeve caps, I decided to get a jump start :) Besides, mothers day is coming up and I want to make something for my mom ;)

I decided to make my mom the Lucy In Sky Cardigan by Laura Chau

I ended up getting some Diamond – Galway Heather in what I believe is Mist. It’s hard to tell from the colors on their site. The best part of this selection is that the hubby chose it :) He actually likes going to the yarn store with me. He really really loves looking at multi-color hand painted yarns. To him, it’s art :)

I love it so much and I think my mom will too. Lucky for me, she doesn’t really know how to use the internet so I can post pics of my progress :)

I also wanted to get some yarn for a new pattern that I absolutely fell in love with this week. It’s called Fiona All Grown Up. I absolutely LOVE how this hangs. I really can’t wait to make it. Here’s the pattern on Ravelry.

I didn’t get any yarn for that just yet. I wanted to get myself some sort of new yarn, but didn’t want to blow the bank. But, I will be starting that tank soon ;)

What I did end up getting though, again, hubby’s pick, was some Malabrigo (first time using it!) so that I can make myself a shawl. Ever since I finished Ishbel, I’ve been wanting a shawl of my own. I may make another Ishbel, but I work with the friend I made the Peacock one for… It may look funny if we both wear our Ishbel’s on the same day :)

And again, some pics… OH! this colorway (is that the right term? lol)  is called Archangel which is so perfect for me. I’m huge into mythology and religious folklore. I thought it was uncanny :)

So that’s my super long update for today. lol. I also have a recipe for ribs and my super fave salad to share, but right now, I really want to go cast on for my mom’s cardigan :)
